Scharnitz liegt im Karwendel, am Rande des größten nicht ständig bewohntem Gebiet Mitteleuropas. Das ist zwischen München und Innsbruck. Scharnitz liegt direkt an der deutsch-österreichischen Grenze, Gießenbach ca. 4 km von der Grenzstation Mittenwald / Scharnitz.
Von München kommend fährt man auf der Autobahn nach Garmisch-Partenkirchen, dann Richtung Mittenwald / Innsbruck. An Mittenwald auf der Umgehungsstraße vorbei Richtung Innsbruck. Durch den Ort Scharnitz geradeaus durch und "hint wiada naus". Über freies Feld bis die Straße in den Wald hinein führt. Nach einer Linkskurve kommt das Ortsschild Gießenbach. Nach dem Ortsschild rechts rein. Gleich danach! 2 Meter!

Links, schräg gegenüber, ist ein großer Parkplatz, den man benutzen kann. Die Nachbarn sind Familie Hofer, wie Andreas, aber Erwin + Margit. Sie sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Von Innsbruck aus Autobahn Richtung Landeck, Ausfahrt Zirl Richtung Deutschland, Garmisch, Seefeld. Berg rauf, an Seefeld vorbei und von da an nur bergab bis Gießenbach. Dann halt nach großem Parkplatz auf rechter Seite vor dem Ortsschild (am Ortsende) links rein.

between Munich / München und Innsbruck. Scharnitz is directly at the (ex) German/Austrian border.
From Munich you go on the Autobahn (highway) to Garmisch and from there follow the signs towards Innsbruck. On the way you pass around Mittenwald and cross the border into Austria. Straight through the village Scharnitz and out of Scharnitz (because the hut is in a part of Scharnitz called Giessenbach). Cross the fields until you enter the forrest again, make a light left turn and then comes the village sign for Giessenbach. Here you turn right. Right at the village sing! The drive in is only 2 yards! behind the sign. The hut is the first house of the settlement.
From Innsbruck you stay on the Autobahn (highway) around Innsbruck towards direction of Landeck, then take the exit Zirl - also telling the directions towards D (Germany), Garmisch and Seefeld. Up the mountain, pass Seefeld and from there always downhill towards Gießenbach. You cross a small bridge (hard to notice) but you will notice a large open field / parking space after the bridge on the right. Opposite on the left there is the street sign showing that you leave Gießenbach. Right before! this sign you turn in left.
